42  | 庚午，命起居舎人辛仲甫使于契丹，右贊善大夫穆被副之。仲甫至境上，聞朝廷議興師伐北漢，實倚契丹為援，遲留未敢進，飛奏竢報，有詔遣行，既至，契丹主問曰：「聞中朝有黨進者，真驍將，如進之比凡幾人？」仲甫對曰：「名將甚多，如進鷹犬之材，何可勝數」。契丹主頗欲留之，仲甫曰：「信以成義，義不可留，有死而己」。契丹主知其秉節，不可奪，厚禮遣還，上嘗謂左右曰：「仲甫逺使絶域，練逹機宜，可謂不辱君命，若更得人，如仲甫數人，朕何患也」。 是日，宴崇政殿，不作樂。 |
