張弼，字汝弼，松江華亭人。成化二年進士。授兵部主事，進員外郎。遷南安知府，地當兩廣衝，奸人聚山谷為惡，悉捕滅之。毀淫祠百數十區，建為社學。謝病歸，士民為立祠。弼自幼穎拔，善詩文，工草書，怪偉跌宕，震撼一世。自號東海。張東海之名，流播外裔。為詩，信手縱筆，多不屬稿，即有所屬，以書故，輒為人持去。與李東陽、謝鐸善。嘗自言：「吾平生，書不如詩，詩不如文。」東陽戲之曰：「英雄欺人每如此，不足信也。」鐸稱其好學不倦，詩文成一家言。子弘至，自有傳。
