十一月丙辰，詔湖南帥臣趙師恕進兩秩，以平衡州酃縣寇故也。甲子，樞密副都承旨趙以夫直前奏云：『臣嘗歷考《春秋》與歷代志紀，日食為咎，食淺者禍淺，食深者禍深，大要在修德政以弭之。乃季冬朔日，歷家預言日食將既。夫日食，猶曰古所有之異也。然日與金、木、水、火四星俱纏於斗，食將既則四星俱見。又曰日中見斗，此則古之所無之異也。斗分屬吳，禍福有歸。伏惟陛下亟側身而修行，則太陽當為之不虧。不然果如占者言，咎已著明，禍必隨應。宗社事重，生靈事重，可不念哉?』上從之。丙寅，詔權免明年正旦朝會。辛未，御筆：『太史豫言嘉平月朔當有日食。星聚之失，朕當損膳避朝，庶圖銷弭。其令有司檢會故實以聞，仍令學士院降詔。』乙亥，詔曰：『朕懋厥德，斯全財成輔相之宜；謫見於天，當謹寅畏嚴恭之念。朕自慚涼菲，適值艱虞，外焉疆埸之未寧，內則政事之多闕。日食星聚，既垂儆戒之機；夕慮朝思，期盡感通之實。避殿減膳，正事飭躬，謂有過在於一人，尚賴交修之益，而推恩足保四海，盍頒肆赦之書?庶幾和氣之致祥，自格乾文之順軌。與爾有眾，永孚于休。』
