七月辛卯，詔省部、刑寺應諸刑奏案以時審定，已經奏聞，速與報下，庶免淹延。獄官不許兼職，俸薄者增給之。從臣僚請也。丁酉，以禮部尚書陳貴誼為端明殿學士、同簽書樞密院事。甲辰，大雨雹。丁未，御集英殿試策進士，制策問略曰：『朕聞堯舜之帝、禹湯文武之王，莫不從事於學，如飢之必食，渴之必飲，未嘗外道以出治，舍經以求治也。朕以眇陋，嗣承丕緒，于今九年，昧旦而朝，咨諏輔弼，延納英雋，日御經筵，曰誦曰講，咸有常準。然六經之道所以淹貫天人，維持世變者，至纖至悉，不可勝窮，而《治鑒》一書［4］，又所以著歷代君臣之微惡以勸戒于後，皆莫先於修身而齊家，進君子而退小人，嚴名分而遏亂萌，修政事而攘夷狄，恤民隱而懼天變。朕深惟經訓史策日陳於前，文字繁多，途轍遐闊，求其所以置力者，乃即閒燕，竊有慕古人緝熙光明之義，日就月將，躬履神會。蓋以基治道之本，一人心之歸，使普天率土，若士與民，繇內及外，悉共繇於理義，而無本末舛逆之患，上下異向之風，顧不偉歟?若夫商政治之得失，求民俗之利病，論士習之厚薄，則有所未暇。蓋以本原既正，則他可以序舉也。子大夫奉對于庭，其以有得于經史者，細繹而畢陳之，朕將親覽焉。』
