五月丙寅，有芝生於化成殿柱，召近臣宗室觀之，仍出御制《瑞芝》詩賜宰臣王隨以下。翌日，儒臣並為賦頌以獻。右司諫韓琦言：『《春秋》之法，但記災異，至於祥瑞，略而不書。豈不以君閱瑞牒則意安，睹災符則心懼?意安則政怠，心懼則德修，聖人垂戒之深，其旨斯在。臣愚望陛下特以災異為重，一政教之間思所未至者，隨其變而應之。至於珍樣奇瑞，雖陛下仁愛所感，亦望以日慎一日，雖休勿休為念，則昊穹降鑾，答陛下寅畏之心；生靈遂宜，蒙陛下慈惠之澤，自然時和歲豐，家給人足，永獲上瑞之報也。』
