5  | 魏裔介字石生，柏鄉人，順治三年進士，官至保和殿大學士，謚文毅，撰《兼濟堂集》□□卷。文毅學宗朱子，詩文亦醇雅，不失為儒者之言。立朝尤侃侃，頗著風節。國朝諸大典，半屬文毅奏議所定，尤為體用兼備，坐言起行。在朝不失為名臣，在野不失為醇儒。即《四庫提要》，於文毅亦無貶詞，似可為完人矣。孰知其生平夙奉天主教，列名氏於上海徐家匯天主堂中。當時致天主教神甫書札甚多，皆藏於天主堂藏書樓中，備言奉天主教原委，實為文毅極大羞辱。此事當時竟未有知之者，直至光緒年間，始發見此事。雖信教可以自由，國朝末造始有此說，然奉教者，仍屬無知莠民，在文毅當時，不能以此自解。何況文毅以理學名臣身負重望，更不當棄其祖宗不祀，以祀天主。明末徐文定公光啟，雖亦以大臣崇奉異教，然文定並不以理學自囿，猶可說也，然《四庫提要》已深惡痛絕，斥責不遺餘力。若文毅內懷奸宄，外昭理學，真小人之尤，罪不容誅者也。 |
