1  | 同治癸亥十月，程忠烈公學啟攻圍蘇城時，所部三十餘營，人數不足二萬，而粵寇在城者二十餘萬。忠烈於城外諸山聯翩立營，樹以旌旗，令各營將士分番出入，或分日移駐，時見灶煙突火，寇瞭望，不知多寡，震懾，約降。往來其間者，提督鄭國魁也。寇必欲要忠烈面議，忠烈慨然往。要以三事，亦允之，降計始定。李文忠公期以五日後納忠烈所部龔副將營中，至期，忠烈密布方略，逮寇魁六人至營，文忠接以溫語。將入宴矣，左右報有廷寄，文忠起曰：「速請程軍門陪客。」文忠起，忠烈入，麾勇士直前擒斬。其一縱步出帳，追至濠邊，始獲之。忠烈旋鳴鼓統師入城，駐守各門，派諸卒分走街衢，大呼曰：「逆首詐降，已伏誅！脅從無罪，各閉門守，出即殺！」令下，無一人探首出聲者。旋呼男子投器械，分門出，各以將士監之，留營者入伍，歸籍者資遣，悉聽其便。未踰三日，城中無一寇蹤，所餘者婦女五六萬而已。當寇魁五人之伏誅也，計甚祕，國魁亦不知。 |
