1  | 朱銘盤，字曼君，泰興人。記誦淵雅，文詞典贍。光緒癸巳舉孝廉，肄業江陰南菁書院。吳武壯公聞其名，聘為記室，與張季直殿撰同掌機要，武壯賓師之，不以屬吏待也。光緒甲午，武壯卒，所部有欠餉未放者，朱代領萬金舁至舟，待發矣。蓋朱又為駐旅順淮軍將領張某所聘，亦武壯舊部也。盜偵知之，亦附其所乘之舶以行。見其舁銀至家，遂往約他盜夜劫之。及朱舁至家，忽轉念不如舁往軍中為妥，盜不知也。至夜，盜十餘人破扉入，覓銀，無有，詢朱，朱曰：「此軍餉也，已至營矣。」一盜將刃之，前隨之盜曰：「不可。我輩與朱某無仇，何必血刃！」遂劫其衣物少許而去。次晨，朱報張緝之，獲七人，前隨之盜亦在其中，蓋亦武壯革退之兵也，直承不諱，並云：「我輩最忌空過，故劫其少許物，計不值百金，當不至死。且我尚有德於爾，爾亦當以德報。」張回顧朱曰：「如何？」朱曰：「君按軍法辦理可也，何必問。」張不得已，駢斬之。 |
