1  | 汪鈍翁教授堯峰，門徒數百輩，比於鄭眾、摯恂。時嘉善葉燮星期方罷官，築室吳縣橫山下，遠近從學者亦復負笈踵來，廊舍為滿。鈍翁說經鏗鏗，素不下人，與星期持論鑿枘，互相詆諆，兩家門下士遂各持師說不相讓。後鈍翁沒，星期曰：「吾向不滿汪氏文，亦為其名太高，意氣太盛，故麻列其失，非為汪氏學竟謬盭於聖人也。今汪歿，誰譏彈吾文者？吾少一諍友矣。」因取向所摘汪文短處，悉焚之。星期前宰寶應，值三藩倡亂，驛道雲擾，黃、淮交漲，隄岸屢決，毀家紓難，民賴乂安，固非僅以文學表見者也。 |
