14  | 文定，鄭信之先生，性之鄭性之，字信之，侯官人。弱冠遊朱文公之門。嘉定元年，進士第一，授平江軍節度判官。召對，以聖學教太子為先，除秘書正字。輪對乞強國勢，宜専大帥之權，久邊守之任，至萬餘言。累遷知袁州，召入言：「執政出一言，侍從之臣間有忠憤，不然者，則立中傷之，使人人箝口，此非國勢之福」。時東宮虛位，乞早定大計，寧宗嘉其請。後知贛州，改知隆興府，以寶章閣待制、提舉玉隆萬夀宮，進文華閣待制、提舉上清太平宮，進敷文閣待制、知建寧府。端平元年，召為吏部侍郎，入對，言：「陛下比者大開言路，以通塞蔽，諸臣心茍愛君，誰不欲言？言不切直，何能感動？譬如積水久壅一決，其勢必盛，其聲必激，故言者多則易於取厭，言之激則難於樂受，若少有厭倦，動於詞色，則讒諂乗間，或不自知，所奏凡二千餘言，擢左諫議大夫，言臺臣交章互詆，願陛下鑑古今天下安危之變，君子小人消長之機，公以處之，若有闗國體，有補治道，有益主徳，言之過激，夫亦何傷？」拜端明殿學士、簽書樞密院事，累知樞密院事兼叅知政事，加觀文殿學士致仕。寶祐二年，卒，諡文定。性之所至為民，去害就利，尤務崇化厚俗，民有骨肉爭訟者，輒曉諭諄切，不事刑威，立朝正直，忠厚無所附麗。有端平奏議及與陳均同修《宋編年備要》行於世。 曽誠叟，先生逢震 |
