陳丹赤字獻之，福建候官人，順治辛卯舉人，司理重慶以卓異，歴陞駕部郎中，任浙江僉事，覲分巡温，處攝臬，篆入，即舍舟，兼程至東甌，繕城堡。 歸至東昌，聞耿逆變，備糗糧，晝夜守禦，不避矢石。時鎮帥𢎞𢎞勲隂通逆黨楊春芳計邀丹赤議事，擁兵脅降，丹赤正色慷慨，開陳大義，𢎞勲厲聲曰：「兵餉俱無，何以出戰？」丹赤曰：「提兵前鋒，計冇半萬，何謂無兵？糧可給至六月，何謂無餉？」𢎞勲持丹赤手曰：「公獨不念骨肉墳墓乎？」丹赤麾之曰：「吾知以死報國，不知其他」。𢎞勲目千總髙魁持鋼斧，擁丹赤，出㫁其右，臂兵刄交下而死。事聞，贈通政使司通政使，賜諡忠毅。
