5  | 英宗治平四年閏月癸卯，以王安石知江寧府。終英宗之世，安石被召未嘗起，韓維、呂公著兄弟更稱揚之。神宗在潁邸，維為記室，每講說見稱，輒曰「此非維之說，維友王安石之說也」維遷庶子，又薦安石自代，帝由是想見其人。及即位，召之，安石不至。帝謂輔臣曰「安石歷先帝朝，召不赴，或以為不恭，今又不至，果病邪。有所要邪」曾公亮曰「安石真輔相材，必不欺罔」吳奎曰「臣嘗與安石同領群牧，見其護前自用，所為迂闊，萬一用之，必紊綱紀」帝不聽，乃有江寧之命。眾謂安石必辭，及詔至，即起視事。 |
