42  | 庚戌，元兵犯池州，知州事王起宗遁去，通判趙卯發攝州事，繕壁聚糧，為固守計。元遊騎至季陽河，都統張林屢諷之降，卯發忿氣填膺，瞠目視林，林不敢復言。已而林帥兵巡江，陰遣人納款，而陽助卯發為守，守兵皆歸於林。卯發知事不濟，乃置酒會諸友，與訣。謂妻雍氏曰「城將破，我守臣不當去，汝先出走」雍曰「君為忠臣，我獨不能為忠臣婦乎」卯發笑曰「此豈婦人女子所能也」雍曰「吾請先君死」卯發笑止之。明日，乃散其家貲與弟侄，僕婢悉遣之。元兵薄城，卯發晨起書几上曰「國不可背，城不可降。夫婦同死，節義成雙」遂與雍氏同縊死於從容堂。林開門降。伯顏入城，問太守何在，左右以死對，深歎息之，命具棺衾，合葬於池上，祭其墓而去。 |
