不著撰人名氏。考《明史神宗本紀》，萬歷二十年，寧夏致仕副總兵哱拜殺巡撫都御史黨馨、副使石繼芳，據城反。此書即記其事。北樓者，寧夏鎮城樓賊所據以為變者，故以名編。所載自正月己丑始亂，至九月辛未平賊，按日系事，頗為詳悉。其中月日先後，往往與《史》不合。如賊聚眾殺馨，縱獄囚，焚案牘，在二月戊申，而《史》作三月戊辰。總督魏學曾下檄安撫，在二月壬子，而《史》作三月壬申。河套諸部大入助賊，在三月庚午，而《史》作六月乙未。

明諸葛元聲撰。元聲，會稽人。是書凡紀五大事。考《明史》載，隆慶五年三月己丑，封俺答為順義王。六月甲寅，順義王俺答貢馬，告廟受賀。丙辰，俺答執趙全餘黨十三人來獻。此書卷一紀其事。又萬歷元年九月丙戌，四川都掌蠻平。此書卷二紀其事。又萬歷二十年三月戊辰，寧夏致仕副總兵哱拜殺巡撫黨馨、副使石繼芳，據城反，壬申，總督魏學曾討寧夏賊。秋七月，以葉夢熊代之。
