1  | 明朱賡撰。賡字少欽，浙江山陰人。隆慶戊辰進士，官至文華殿大學士。事跡具《明史》本傳。萬厯二十九年，大學士趙志皋罷，神宗慮朝臣植黨，乃起賡入閣；後沈一貫、沈鯉並罷，賡遂獨相七年。史稱其醇謹無過，然無所建白。惟是時東林聲氣，傾動一時，賡獨借漢、唐、宋，朋黨之害以立論：謂漢之黨皆君子，而罹小人之害，其勢在小人，故使卓、操之徒，得以假手而國移於強臣；唐之黨，君子、小人互相攻擊，其勢兩盛而卒兩敗，故使朱全忠得以竊入而國移於盜賊；宋之黨，皆以德行、文章標表一時，其勢在君子，而芟除太過，不能使其身安於朝廷之上，故使呂、蔡諸人得以藉口而國移於鄰敵。黨愈眾則害愈深，變愈大。其言切中時病，厥後明社既屋，乃信賡言。其深識早見，有非顧、葉諸人所及者。其文則未能自成一家，其人葢本不以詞章名也。 |
