卷95 子部·儒家類存目一

王廷相撰。廷相子衡,儀封人。弘治壬戌進士。官至兵部尚書。事跡具《明史》本傳。是編前有嘉靖丁亥自序,稱仰觀俯察,驗幽核明,有會於心,即記於冊。二十餘年,言積數萬,類分為十三篇,附諸集以藏於家。又論諸儒之失有曰,擬議過貪,則援取必廣;性靈弗神,則詮擇失精。由是旁涉九流,淫及緯術,卒使牽合附會之妄,以迷乎聖人中庸之軌云云。持論大抵不詭於正。然以擬議過貪詆諸儒,故罕考群言;以性靈弗神詆諸儒,故多憑臆見;甚至並五行分屬四時,亦以為必無之理,則愈辨而愈傎矣。本傳稱廷相博學好議論,以經術稱。

王廷相撰。廷相有《慎言》,已著錄。慎言雖多偏執,猶不大悖於聖賢,此書則頗多乖戾。自序謂宋儒才情有限,沾帶泥苴,使人不得清澄宣朗,以睹孔門之景。餘於讀書之暇,時置一論,求合道真。積久成卷,分為上下二篇,名曰《雅述》。謂述其中正經常,足以治世者云爾。今觀其書,標舉中庸修道之謂教為本,而多斥枯禪寂坐之非,未為無見;而過於擺落前人,未免轉成臆斷。如謂人性有善有惡,儒者不計與孔子言性背馳與否,而曰孟子言性善,是棄仲尼而尊孟子矣,況孟子亦自有言不善之性者,何獨以性善為名云云,是其所見與告子殆無以異。又謂人生而靜,天之性也,感於物而動,性之欲也。此非聖人語,然則聖人之動,亦皆欲而非天耶?是又不以情言欲,直以私言欲,無怪其並性善而疑之矣。至謂雷搏擊成聲乃物之所為,但非人間可得而見,尤涉於小說家神怪之言。

一曰《浚川集》,王廷相撰。廷相有《愼言》,已著錄。其詩文列名七子之中,然軌轍相循,亦不出北地信陽門戸,鄭善夫詩所謂:「海內談詩王子衡,春風坐遍魯諸生。」一時興到之言,非篤論也。王士禎《論詩絶句》曰:「三代而還盡好名,文人從古善相輕;君看少穀山人死,獨有平生王子衡。」葢善夫歿後,廷相始見是詩,賙恤其家甚至也,亦頗有微詞矣。

王廷相撰。是編刻於嘉靖丙申,凡詩二卷,詞一卷,雜著一卷,奏疏一卷,雜文二卷,又在《家藏集》之後者也。時廷相為都御史,故以「內台」為名云。
