1  | 宋歐陽修撰。本名《新五代史記》。世稱《五代史》者，省其文也。唐以後所修諸史，惟是書為私撰，故當時未上於朝。修歿之後，始詔取其書，付國子監開雕，遂至今列為正史。大致褒貶祖《春秋》，故義例謹嚴；敘述祖《史記》，故文章高簡；而事實則不甚經意。諸家攻駁，散見他書者無論。其特勒一編者，如吳縝之《五代史纂誤》、楊陸榮之《五代史志疑》，引繩批根，動中要害，雖吹求或過，要不得謂之盡無當也。然則《薛史》如《左氏》之紀事，本末賅具，而斷制多疏。歐史如《公》、《穀》之發例，褒貶分明，而傳聞多謬。兩家之並立，當如三傳之俱存，尊此一書，謂可兼賅五季，是以名之輕重為史之優劣矣。 |
