國朝王懋竑撰。懋竑字予中，寶應人，康熙戊戌進士，授安慶府教授。雍正癸卯特召，入直內廷，改翰林院編修。初，李方子作《朱子年譜》三卷，其本不傳。明洪武甲戌，朱子裔孫境別刊一本，汪仲魯為之序，已非方子之舊。正德丙寅，婺源戴銑又刊《朱子實紀》十二卷，惟主於鋪張褒贈，以誇講學之榮，殊不足道。至嘉靖壬子，建陽李默重編《年譜》五卷，《自序》謂猥冗虛謬不合載者，悉以法削之。視舊木存者十七。然默之學源出姚江，陰主朱、陸始異終同之說。

明戴銑編。銑字寶之，婺源人，弘治丙辰進士，官至給事中，以疏彈太監高鳳，下詔獄，廷杖創甚而卒，事跡具《明史》本傳。是書詳述朱子始末。首曰《道統源流》、《世系源流》，次《年譜》，次《行狀》、《本傳》，次《廟宅》，次《門人》，次《褒典》，次《贊述》，次《紀題》。其書本因《年譜》而作，其標曰《實紀》者，銑《自序》稱，謂之《年譜》則紹乎前、彰乎後者不足談。
