| 13 | 甲申之變，年二十七；棄諸生，刻苦清勵以自守。力排佛、老曰：『其精者傍吾儒，其異者不可一日容也』！聞四方之士有賢者，即書其姓氏置夾袋中，冀得一見；然不肯妄交。授徒自給，三旬九食以為常；每連日絕粒，採階前馬藍草食之。聞者饋之米，不受；固請，則固辭。時餓已甚，宛轉辭謝而益困，遂僕於地；其人皇駭去。良久始蘇，笑曰：『其意可感，然適以困老子耳』！友人應撝謙聞而嘆曰：『生平於辭受自謂不苟，然以視沈先生猶愧之』！謂末世喪禮不講，重輯「士喪禮說」，薈萃先儒之言，定其可行者；以授弟子陸寅。又輯「四子略」、「五子要言」、「家法論」、「升降編」、「言行錄」、「居求編」，疏通簡要，不涉講學習氣。時宗周弟子爭宗旨；昀曰：『道在躬行；但滕口說，非師門所望於吾曹也』！ |
