7  | 项煜字仲昭，号水心；吴县人。天启乙丑进士，授庶吉士。尝抹江西艾南英文，为所诋；怒，因磨勘陷之，停科。甲戌，分校会闱，抑陈大士而进李青；群论大哗。煜故以经艺名天下，耻之；纳贿于嘉定伯周奎，求再入闱雪耻。而癸未会元，所得又为陈名夏；声誉顿减。累迁少詹兼侍读。甲申三月，疏请南迁，为给事中光时亨所持。城陷，与乡人痛哭，将自裁；忽其甲戌门生黎志升者排闼入，呼曰：『今日魏徵，非师而谁』！志升固以山西学道降贼为伪尚玺卿者；煜方恨骂，而志升竟挟之，上马去。煜既不死，即对众曰：『大丈夫名节既不全，当立盖世功名如管仲、魏徵可也』！已得伪太常寺丞，大沮。奉贼命祀泰山，驰驿微服走南都；适弘光帝登极，杂入朝贺班，为众所逐。寻与周锺等同下狱。刑部尚书高倬，为煜乙丑同年；为援助饷例，敛金出狱。而故里居已为乡人之讨贼者所毁，不敢归；走慈溪门生冯元飂之乡村。明年，剃发令下；众揭竿起，拥煜入县署。令王玉藻者，亦癸未门生也；将为煜地。众复拥之西门外之太平桥，绳系掷激湍中；噪曰：『今日真项水心矣』！元飂奔救之，气已绝云。 |
