昭辟任城魏舒为相国参军。任，音壬。初，舒少时迟钝，不为鄕亲所重，鄕里、亲戚也。少，诗照翻。从叔父吏部郎衡，有名当世，从，才用翻。亦不知之，使守水碓，为碓水侧，置轮碓后，以横木贯轮，横木之两头，复以木长二尺许，交午贯之，正直碓尾。木激水灌轮，轮转则交午木戛击碓尾木而自舂，不烦人力，谓之水碓。碓，都内翻。每叹曰：「舒堪数百户长，谓小邑长也。长，知两翻。我愿毕矣！」舒亦不以介意，不为皎厉之事。皎者，求以暴白于世。厉，危行也。唯太原王乂谓舒曰：「卿终当为台辅。」常振其匮乏，舒受而不辞。年四十馀，郡举上计掾，上，时掌翻。掾，于绢翻。察孝廉。宗党以舒无学业，劝令不就，可以为高。舒曰：「若试而不中，中，竹仲翻。其负在我，安可虚窃不就之高以为己荣乎！」于是自课，百日习一经，因而对策升第，累迁后将军锺毓长史。毓每与参佐射，参佐，参军及诸佐吏也。毓，余六翻。舒常为画筹而已；射之画筹，犹投壶之释算也。为，于僞翻；下徐为同。后遇朋人不足，以舒满数，射以两人为朋。射之有朋，犹古射仪之有耦也。《周礼》：王以六耦射三侯，诸侯以四耦射二侯，卿大夫以三耦射一侯，士以三耦射豻侯。《左传》：鲁襄公享范献子，射者三耦，公臣不足，取于家臣。杜预《注》云：二人为耦。舒容范闲雅，发无不中；中，竹仲翻。举坐愕然，莫有敌者。坐，徂卧翻。毓叹而谢曰：「吾之不足以尽卿才，有如此射矣，岂一事哉！」及为相国参军，府朝碎务，未尝见是非；府朝，犹言府庭也。朝，直遥翻。见，贤遍翻。至于废兴大事，衆人莫能断者，断，丁乱翻。舒徐为筹之，多出衆议之表。昭深器重之。
