十二月，昭義西昭义•总部设潞州節度使薛志勤薨。

及志勤薨，旬日無帥，罕之擅引澤州兵夜入潞州，據之，九域志：澤州北至潞州一百六十五里。帥，所類翻。以狀白克用，曰：「薛鐵山死，薛志勤從克用起代北，初名鐵山。州民無主，慮不逞者為變，故罕之專命鎮撫，取王裁旨。」裁旨者，旨裁其可否也。克用怒，遣人讓之。罕之遂遣其子請降于朱全忠，執河東將馬溉等及沁州刺史傅瑤送汴州。克用遣李嗣昭將兵討之，自此，李克用不能與朱全忠爭邢、洺、磁而爭澤、潞矣。嗣昭先取澤州，收罕之家屬送晉陽。先取澤州，既掩李罕之不備，且俘其家。史言李嗣昭用兵有方略。
