78  | 初，司馬相如病且死，有遺書，頌功德，言符瑞，勸上封泰山。上感其言，會得寶鼎，上乃與公卿諸生議封禪。封禪用希曠絕，莫知其儀，而諸方士又言：「封禪者合不死之名也。黃帝以上，封禪皆致怪物，與神通，秦皇帝不得上封。陛下必欲上，稍上卽無風雨，遂上封矣。」上於是乃令諸儒采《尚書》、《周官》、《王制》之文，草封禪儀，數年不成。上以問左內史兒寬，寬曰：「封泰山，禪梁父，昭姓考瑞，帝王之盛節也；然享薦之義，不著于《經》。臣以為封禪告成，合祛於天地神祇，唯聖主所由，制定其當，非羣臣之所能列。今將舉大事，優游數年，使羣臣得人人自盡，終莫能成。唯天子建中和之極，兼總條貫，金聲而玉振之，以順成天慶，垂萬世之基。」上乃自制儀，頗采儒術以文之。上為封禪祠器，以示羣儒，或曰「不與古同」，於是盡罷諸儒不用。上又以古者先振兵釋旅，然后封禪。 |
