景帝初元七年、中元六年，後元三年即位十六年。臣謹按張晏曰：「自景帝至平帝，本紀皆王莽時、劉歆、揚雄、馮衍、史岑等所記。惟《武帝紀》遷沒，其書殘缺，禇少孫補之所謂褚先生是也」。

孝武皇帝名徹之，字通，景帝中子也。母曰王羙人。年四歲，立為膠東王。孝景七年，廢太子榮為臨江王，以膠東王為皇子，王羙人為皇后。後三年春正月，景帝崩，太子即皇帝位，尊皇太后竇氏曰太皇太后，皇后曰皇太后。三月，尊太后母臧兒為平原君，封太后同母弟田蚡、勝皆為列侯。

四年春三月，幸泰山。壬午，祀高祖于明堂以配上帝，因受計。癸未，祀孝景帝于明堂。甲申，修封丙戍䄠石閭。夏四月，幸不其祠神人于交門宮，若有鄉坐拜者，作《交門之歌。夏五月，還，幸建章宮，赦天下。秋七月，趙有虵從郭外入邑，與邑中蛇羣鬪孝文廟下，邑中蛇死。冬十月甲寅晦，日有蝕之。十二月，行幸雍，祠五畤，西至安定北地。征和元年春正月，還幸建章宮。三月，趙王彭祖薨。冬十一月，發三輔騎士，大搜上林，閉長安城門，索十一日乃解。巫蠱起。
