《東瀛識略卷一》
6  | 鳳山縣以邑有鳳山名。鄭氏設南路安撫司並萬年州，治其地。康熙二十三年，設知縣一員、典史一員、儒學教諭一員，均同城；巡檢一員，駐下淡水。雍正九年，增設縣丞一員，駐萬丹，管轄下淡水、枋寮等處；移巡檢駐大崑麓。十一年，增設儒學訓導一員。乾隆十六年，移萬丹縣丞駐阿里港。初，縣治在興隆莊，僻近海隅，甚荒落；縣官治事，恆在相距十里之埤頭街。五十二年，逆匪莊大田蹂躪縣治，遂移駐埤頭；改大崑麓巡檢為興隆巡檢，駐舊城；並移阿里港縣丞駐下淡水。嘉慶十一年，海賊蔡牽攻臺灣，遣黨陷埤頭，頗有殘毀。十五年，移回舊城。然埤頭溪山環繞，煙戶繁盛甲一邑。道光二十七年，議准仍移治埤頭。 |
