東觀餘論》云:「世傳《黃庭經》為逸少書,僕嘗考之,非也。按陶隱居《真誥翼真檢論上清真經始末》云:『晉哀帝興寧二年,南嶽魏夫人所授,弟子司徒公府長史楊君,使作隸字寫出,以傳護軍長史許君,及子上計掾,掾以付子黃民,「掾」字原無,今據宋本、徐鈔本校補。民以傳孔點,「點」宋本、徐鈔本作「默」。後為王興先竊寫之,度江飄淪,惟有《黃庭》一篇得存。』蓋此經也。僕按甲子歲,逸少以晉穆帝升平五年卒,是年歲在辛酉,後二年即哀帝興寧二年,始降《黃庭》於世,安得逸少預書之?又案梁虞和《論書表》云:『山陰曇壤村養鵝道土謂羲之曰:久欲寫河上公《老子》,縑素早辦,而無人能書,府君若能自屈書《道德經》兩章,便合群以奉。於是羲之便停半日,為寫畢,攜鵝去。』而《晉書》本傳亦著道士云:『為寫《道德經》,當舉群相贈耳。』初未嘗言寫《黃庭》也。以二書考之,即《黃庭》非逸少書無疑。然陶隱居《與梁武帝啟》云:『巡少有名之跡,不過數首,《黃庭》、《勸進》、《告誓》等,不審猶有存否?』蓋此啟在著《真誥》前,殆未之考証耳。至唐張懷瓘作《書帖》云:『《樂毅》、《黃庭》,但得幾篇,即為國寶。』遂誤以為逸少書,李太白承之作詩,『山陰道士如相訪,為寫《黃庭》換白鵝』,苟欲隨之耳,初未嘗考之。而韓退之第云:『數紙尚可博白鵝』,而不云《黃庭》,豈非覺其謬歟?」
