嚴　清字直甫，後衞人，弱冠，登嘉靖甲辰進士，知富順縣，丁母憂，服闋，補邯鄲縣，皆以㢘能著徴，為工部屯田主事，陞即中督，建外城及九陵，綜覈出入，省費巨萬，出知保定府，時廷議選邉才，清與焉，厯陞四川右布政，綜理撙節，蜀庫獨贏。隆慶初，巡撫貴州，復移四川，一切公私費悉従減省，奏改金錢，當輸京師者二十餘萬，就近抵陜西佐邉費，定番僧貢額，罷有司團操，蜀民稱便。萬歴乙亥，再命巡撫貴州，條理得宜，苗蠻懾服。累遷刑部尚書，秉公持平，屢白寃抑，神宗素知清，特授吏部尚書。時癸未冬，計事滇，委所擯斥，雖閭里不少庇，而引用巖穴，知名之士實多無何，以勞瘁致疾，四上疏乞歸，又二年，本兵乏人，上特旨起清清，力辭，疏入，上遲回久之乃許。戊子，特晉太子少傅，嵗給廩粟輿夫，卒，贈太子太保，賜祭葬，諡恭肅。清性檢飭，有威儀，生平操行尤嚴於取與辭受。居官食麤衣敝，與童僕同甘苦。及為尚書，亦然輿疾出都門，遵潞河，泝大江而行，置石輕舟，無慙古人。歸滇後，隠於松華别業，後進造請，惟以脩身務學為諄諄。其詩随意興成，有《冰玉堂集、東阿于愼行刻筆麈載酒遺事，方馮保以罪籍沒，得一册於其家。定陵披閱，皆籍記朝貴往來事及書，清無一字以此受知。郭　斗，字應秀，昆明人。嘉靖癸丑進士，知孝感縣。伸疑獄，行取南戸科給事中，以母憂去。服闋，補山西按察副使，覈郵符，寛民力。遷貴州按察使。時安國亨搆殺，罰粟而止，平滇、黔道塗，以利行旅，厯浙江左布政使，致政歸。萬厯初，再起貴州，尋歸田里。構小樓於進耳山，賦詩作書自適。一夕方據案吟咏，忽擲筆而卒。
