純清白奉公五主：南北考察，澄汰悉當，妖書事起，力為沈鯉、郭正域辨誣。又楚宗人殺撫臣，純言無反狀，積忤沈一貫，時大計京朝官，純與吏部侍郎楊時喬主之，一貫所欲庇者鍾兆斗、錢夢臯等，皆在謫中，一貫怒，言于帝，降㫖切責，純察疏亦不下，盡留被察科道官，純力求去，夢臯等遂連章訐純楚事，誣以納賄，給事中陳嘉訓極論夢臯、兆斗朋比為姦，請聽純歸，以全大臣之體，帝予純致仕，夢臯、兆斗亦罷歸。是時京察章疏，一貫請留中，主事劉元珍、龎時雍、御史朱吾弼等力爭之，謂二百年來計典疏無留者，時南京察疏亦留中，後迫衆議始下。質實，楊時喬，字宜遷，上饒人。鍾兆斗，海鹽人。陳嘉訓，鄱陽人。劉元珍，字伯先，無錫人。龎時，雍汶上人。朱吾弼，字諧卿，髙安人。秋七月，泰州天有聲如潮。
