有丁自七月以疾在告,十月再以病乞休,不允,遂卒。十二月,以王錫爵為禮部尚書兼文淵閣大學士,王家屏為吏部侍郎兼東閣大學士,並預機務。錫爵因救論奪情,諸臣積忤。張居正以禮部侍郎家居五年不出,至是即家起之家屏前為日講官,敷奏剴摰,帝斂客受之,稱為端士。及是,遂以吏部侍郎入閣,去史官僅二年。先是,李植、江東之與申時行相構,以錫爵負時望,且素惡居正,當與時行貳,故力推之。比錫爵至,乃與時行合弗善植等,植由是大恨。質實,王家屏,字忠伯,大同山隂人。以陳獻章、胡居仁、王守仁從祀孔廟。申時行等言:「守仁言致知出大學,良知出孟子。陳獻章言主靜,沿宋儒周敦頤、程顥。且孝悌出處,如獻章,文章功業如守仁,純心篤行如胡居仁,並宜從祀。從之。終明世,從祀文廟者薛瑄與守仁等四人 。先是,隆慶元年,都御史徐栻等言王守仁、陳獻章宜從祀,給事中趙思誠等言,二人不宜從祀。其後御史詹事講上言:「明興二百年來,諸儒聿興,直肩斯道,若薛瑄、王守仁、陳獻章,其最著者也。今瑄已入祀,而守仁獻章格于議,而不得與夫守仁之功烈,文章、獻章之出處大節,雖其言良知,言主靜若近于偏枯,顧言知而未始廢,行言靜而未嘗離動,合一之功,與宋大儒之論同歸一致,宜以守仁、獻章並從祀」。于是申時行等議,上以居仁亦宜並祀,詔以三人並從祀孔廟,列于薛瑄之次質實胡居仁,字叔心,餘干人。居仁聞吳與弼講學崇仁,往從之游,絶意仕進。其學以主忠信為先,求放心為要,闇修自守,布衣終其身乙酉。十三年春二月,旱,大雩。
