恒，字伯常，蘇州嘉定人。萬厯庚辰進士，知茶陵、興國二州，入為刑部員外郎，出知饒州府，再知建昌。歴按察副使，升太常少卿。有明志稾詩話伯常自序，其詩謂「語不必工，意不必逺，古不必合，今不必離，生不必名，沒不必傳，聊明吾志而已矣。又曰：「譬諸候至而物鳴，若有使之而不能已者，以寫其優柔憺蕩之思數語，非知詩者莫能言也。宜其古風磊落，近體亦安詳，比於同邑四先生，似覺挺抜」。
