"Madman's Words" (《狂夫之言》) is a three-volume work authored by Chen Jiru, a prominent scholar from the Ming dynasty. Chen Jiru is also known for his other works, including the "Records of Shao Kangjie" (《邵康節外紀》). The title "Madman's Words" is derived from the language used in the biography of Chao Cuo from the Han dynasty.

The content of "Madman's Words" is a collection of miscellaneous discussions and critiques on the successes and failures of historical figures and events. The author's style is marked by a sharp and eloquent talent for debate. However, many of his viewpoints are considered to be overly biased and contrarian. For instance, Chen Jiru argues that Buddhist practices, such as caring for the widowed and the orphaned, are merely unconventional opinions. He also suggests that Yan Hui's serene and immobile demeanor was a form of subtle criticism of Confucius, and that Zuo Qiuming's "Inner Commentary on the Spring and Autumn Annals" (《春秋內传》) was not intended to elucidate Confucius' teachings. These views are particularly seen as speculative and unfounded.

The work is complemented by a two-volume sequel titled "Continuation of Madman's Words" (《續狂夫之言》), which further expands on Chen Jiru's critical and often controversial perspectives.
