29  | 唐長孫無忌，字輔機，從秦王征討有功。 太子建成毒王王病，舉府危駭，王遣無忌隂召房、杜定計討難，平之。即位，遷吏部尚書，以功第一，封齊國公。 頡利可汗已盟而政亂，諸將請討之，計猶豫，無忌曰：「今我戢兵，待夷狄至，乃可撃卒取突厥」。太宗曰：「豈不以兼文武兩器，朕故相之，朕得公，遂定天下，公其無讓！」 帝又思與共艱難，賴無忌以免，作《威鳯賦》以賜，且况其功。 帝欲功臣世襲刺史，貞觀十一年，詔無忌等十四人。 太子承乾廢，欲立晉王未決，羣臣已罷，獨留無忌對曰：「王以仁孝聞天下乆矣，固無異辭。有如不同，臣負陛下百死」。於是遂定。 帝嘗從容評之曰：「無忌應對機敏，善避嫌，求於古人，未有其比」。初，無忌與遂良悉心奉國，以天下安危自任，故永徽之政，有貞觀風。 |
