42  | 戊戌，上謂大臣曰：「來年正旦，皇太后慶七十，可令禮官檢㑹國朝典故以聞」。 秘閣修撰、知䖍州曽慥移知荊南。自渡江以來，荊南多命武帥，至是闕人，上命秦檜以諸路副總管姓名來上，檜曰：「江陵重地，所係非輕，恐更有可選之人，盖檜欲慥也」。上曰：「可」。徧詢三衙主帥，庶得其人，不誤委寄。後旬日，上諭檜曰：「荊南重地，不可不慎擇，今疆場安靜，宜用文臣」。乃以命慥焉。 |
