十月初二日，北兵至，方國安嚴陣以待，張國維率隊接應，裨將王國斌、趙天祥繼之，連戰十日，北兵敗去。以原任吏科都給事中林時對為太常寺卿、原任刑部主事莊元辰為吏科都給事中。

十一月，進方國安荊國公、王之仁寧國公；封鄭遵謙義興伯，尋進侯。議分餉分地。以編修張煌言為兵科給事中，以太常寺卿林時對為都察院右僉都御史、吏科都給事中莊元辰為太常寺卿，加右僉都御史孫嘉績、熊汝霖並兵部右侍郎。閩中遣給事中劉中藻頒詔至，大學士張國維、侍郎熊汝霖等拒之小腆紀年作十月事。王勞軍江上，駐蹕西興，築壇拜方國安為大將，命各營皆守節制。馬士英、阮大鋮按小腆紀年：士英字瑤草，貴陽人，中萬曆丙辰會試，又三年成進士；大鋮，懷寧人，萬曆丙辰進士竄入方國安營請朝見，不許。
