及薨，真宗聞之震悼，不俟旦，步及中禁門，乃乘輦臨視，哀動左右，廢朝五日。贈太尉、尚書令，追封安王，謚文惠，後改邢王，後改陳王。無子。仁宗以恭憲王之孫、允言子宗望為之後。

宗望字子國，終右武衛大將軍、舒州防禦使，贈安化軍節度使觀察留後、高密郡公。仁宗嘗御延和殿試宗子書，以宗望為第一；又常獻所為文，賜國子監書，及以塗金紋羅御書「好學樂善」四字賜之。即所居建御書閣，帝為題其榜。
