杨美，并州文水人。本名光美，避太宗旧名改焉。美状貌雄伟，武力绝人，以豪侠自任。汉乾佑中，周祖征三叛，美杖策诣军门求见，周祖召与语，壮之，留帐下。广顺初，累迁禁军大校，从世宗征淮南，以功擢铁骑都指挥使，领白州刺史。

若李进卿、杨美亦专师西征，而美居北海，以乐易结民心，诚得为政之本。延渥、承矩、守恩、允正皆绍先业，以勋名著。承矩议屯田，赞和好，其谋甚远。守恩以果敢死事。宋之武功，于斯为盛焉
