24  | 寶元中，李淑侍經筵，上訪以進士詩、賦、策、論先後，俾以故事對。淑對曰：「唐調露二年，劉思立為考功員外郎，以進士試策滅裂，請帖經以觀其學，試雜文以觀其才。自此沿以為常。至永隆二年，進士試雜文二篇，通文律者，始試策。天寶十一年，進士試一經，能通者試文賦，又通而後試策，五條皆通，中第。建中二年，趙贊請試以時務策五篇，箴、論、表、贊各一篇，以代詩、賦。大和三年，試帖經，略問大義，取精通者，次試論、議各一篇。八年，禮部試以帖經口義，次試策五篇，問經義者三，問時務者二。厥後變易，遂以詩賦為第一場，論第二場，策第三場，帖經第四場。今陛下欲求理道而不以雕琢為貴，得取士之實矣。然考官以所試分考，不能通加評校，而每場輒退落，士之中否，殆系於幸不幸。願約舊制，先策，次論，次賦及詩，次帖經、墨義，而敕有司並試四場，通較工拙，毋以一場得失為去留。」詔有司議，稍施行焉。 |
