| 35 | 湯大奎，字緯堂，江蘇武進人。乾隆二十八年進士，授福建鳳山縣知縣。五十一年冬，臺灣賊民林爽文作亂，起彰化，其黨曾伯達等應之，南竄鳳山。縣故無城，僅土垣三尺許。時大奎已秩滿候代，屬賊勢蔓延，乃率僚佐募鄉勇，日夜守御。賊來攻，與參將瑚圖裏擊卻之。瑚圖里馳馬逐賊去，大奎聞城北有警，捕內應四賊，斬以徇。方獎勵兵役，賊突進北門，入縣治，典史史謙死之。大奎朝服坐廳事，手劍擊賊，賊刃交下，猶瞋目詈不止。長子荀業從之官，先以父詩文稿畀其戚，令遠避，身佩刀蔽父不去，同遇害。大奎初喪其元，城復後，有僕識大奎系發線，形容亦約略可辨，因並入棺。孫二，貽汾自有傳。 |
