黎簡，字簡民，順德人。十歲能詩。益都李文藻令朝陽，見簡詩，曰：「必傳之作也。」勸令就試。學使李調元得其擬昌黎石鼎聯句，奇賞之。補弟子員，人號之曰黎石鼎。久之，膺選拔。尋丁外艱，遂終於家，足不逾嶺。海內名流，欽其高節。袁枚負盛名，游羅浮，邀與相見，謝不往也。著五百四峰草堂詩文鈔。所與交同邑張錦芳、黃丹書，番禺呂堅皆以詩名。
