| 8 | 牛樹梅，字雪橋，甘肅通渭人。道光二十一年進士，授四川彰明知縣，以不擾為治。決獄明慎，民隱無不達，咸愛戴之。鄰縣江油匪徒何遠富糾眾劫中壩場，地與彰明之太平場相近。樹梅率民團御之，匪言我不踐彰明一草一木也。迨官軍擊散匪眾，遠富匿下莊白鶴洞，恃險負隅。遙呼曰：「須牛青天來，吾即出。」樹梅至，果自縛出。擢茂州直隸州知州，尋署寧遠知府。地大震，全城陷沒，死傷甚眾。樹梅壓於土，獲生。蜀人謂天留牛青天以勸善。樹梅自咎德薄，不能庇民，益修省。所以賑恤災黎甚厚，民愈戴之。父憂去官。 |
