湖广容美土司田舜年揭其子昺如贪庸暴戾，昺如匿桑植土司向长庚所，不赴鞫。总督石文晟以闻，并劾舜年僭妄。命左都御史梅鋗、内阁学士二格会文晟按治。舜年诣武昌，文晟执之，病卒。鋗与文晟各具议疏陈，二格疏言佐证未集，未可即定议。诏廷枢偕大学士席哈纳、侍郎萧永藻覆勘，舜年各款俱虚，梅鋗以草率具奏，下部议夺官；文晟及湖北巡抚刘殿衡、偏沅巡抚赵申乔、提督俞益谟各降罚有差。

三十九年，给事中汤右曾劾永藻与总督石琳于黎人争斗事，迟至一载始行具题；纵属吏朘民，民困而为盗，海则电白、阳江，山则英德、翁源，横行劫掠。上命与广西巡抚彭鹏互调，入觐，上谕当命效鹏所行，并诫荐举当择清廉。四十五年，迁兵部侍郎。湖广总督石文晟劾容美土司田舜年不法，命左都御史梅鋗、内阁学士二格往谳，与文晟异议；复命永藻与大学士席哈纳、侍郎张廷枢覆谳，还奏舜年已死，无诸僭越状。
