6 | 夭寿: | “昔者帝喾已前尚矣,唐虞三代厥事可得略乎?闻自尧至于武王,自稷至于周召,皆仁人也,君臣之数不为少矣,考其年寿不为夭矣。斯非‘仁者寿’之验耶!又七十子岂残酷者哉?顾其仁有优劣耳,其夭者惟颜回,据一颜回而多疑其馀,无异以一钩之金,权于一车之羽。云:‘金轻于羽也。’天道迂阔,暗昧难明,圣人取大略以为成法,亦安能委曲不失,毫芒无差跌乎!且夫信无过于四时,而春或不华,夏或陨霜,秋或雨雪,冬或无冰。岂复以为难哉!所谓祸者、己欲违之而反触之者也。比干、子胥已知其必然而乐为焉!天何罪焉!天虽欲福仁,亦不能以手臂引人而亡之。非所谓无庆也。荀令以此设难,而解以槌击烧薰,于事无施;孙氏讥比干、子胥,亦非其理也。殷有三仁,比干居一,何必启手然后为德;子胥虽有雠君之过,犹有观心知仁,悬首不化,固臣之节也。且夫贤人之道者,同归而殊途,一致而百虑;或见危而授命,或望善而遐举,或被发而狂歌,或三黜而不去,或辞聘而山栖,或忍辱而俯就,岂得责以圣人也哉?于戏!通节之士,实关斯事,其审之云耳。” |
