民亦勞止、The people indeed are heavily burdened,
汔可小息。But perhaps a little relief may be got for them.
惠此京師、Let us cherish this capital,
以綏四國 。To secure the repose of the States in the four quarters.
無縱詭隨、Let us give no indulgence to the wily and obsequious,
以謹罔極。To make careful those who set no limit to themselves,
式遏寇虐、And to repress robbers and oppressors; -
無俾作慝 。Not allowing them to act out their evil.
敬慎威儀、Then let us be reverently careful of our demeanour,
以近有德。To cultivate association with the virtuous.
