| | Fan Zhong managed his family's property and assets, building houses and high towers connected by pavilions. He constructed dikes and ponds for irrigation, planted bamboo and trees in groves, raised various livestock and fruits, cultivated sandalwood, lacquer, mulberry, and hemp, so that even with the doors closed, a market could be formed within his estate.

| | Fan Zhong, courtesy name Junyun, was a native of Nanyang. His family had long been wealthy, but his granddaughter's husband, the He brothers-in-law, quarreled over property. Fan Zhong was ashamed of this and gave them two qing of farmland to resolve their dispute and anger. He was praised in the county and recommended as one of the "Sanlao." He died at more than eighty years old. He had previously lent hundreds of thousands to people, and in his will he ordered that the loan documents be burned and destroyed. Those who had borrowed money from him felt ashamed upon hearing this, and rushed to repay it, but his sons followed his orders and refused to accept any repayment.
