魏伯，字喬卿，濟陰人也。建初中為郎。伯孤兄弟子來候，伯以所乘車馬遣送之。歸至成皋，郎官有乘皂蓋車者，見兄子乘車，疑而格殺之。伯聞悲淚，晝夜泣涕，生病。 |
| | Wei Bo, courtesy name Qiaoqing, was a native of Jiying. In the Jianchu period he became an Attendant Officer. When Wei Bo's nephew Laihou came, Wei Bo sent him off with his own carriage and horse. When they returned to Chenggao, an Attendant Officer who rode in a black-roofed carriage saw Wei Bo's nephew riding in a carriage and suspected him of being a bandit, so he killed him. Upon hearing the news, Wei Bo was overwhelmed with grief and wept day and night, which caused him to fall ill.

魏霸，字喬卿，為鉅鹿太守，妻子不到官舍。常念兄嫂在家勤苦，己獨專樂，故掌服癞糲，不食魚肉之味，婦親蠶桑，服機杼，子躬耕農，與兄弟子同苦樂，不得有異。鄉里慕其行，化之。 |
| | Wei Ba, courtesy name Qiaoqing (probably a different person from Wei Bo), served as the governor of Julu, and his wife and children did not go to the official residence. He often thought of his elder brother and sister-in-law toiling hard at home, while he alone enjoyed comfort; therefore, he wore coarse clothes and ate plain rice, refraining from the taste of fish and meat. His wife personally raised silkworms and planted mulberry trees, worked on the loom and spinning wheel, their son tilled the fields himself, and they shared hardships and joys with his brothers' children without distinction. The people of his native place admired his conduct and were influenced by it.

魏霸為鉅鹿太守，霸性清約質朴，為政寬恕，正色而已，不求備於人。掾吏有過，輒私責數，不改，休罷之，終不暴揚其惡。 |
| | Wei Ba served as the governor of Julu. Wei Ba was by nature clean, frugal and simple; in governing he was lenient and forgiving, merely maintaining a dignified demeanor, and did not demand perfection from others. If his clerks or officials committed faults, he would privately reprimand and admonish them; if they did not reform, he would dismiss them, but never publicly expose their vices.

| | Wei Ba, courtesy name Shuqing (possibly another person with the same surname and similar name), served as Jiangzu Dajiang. His subordinates were all grateful to him; people naturally devoted themselves to their duties without being reprimanded for faults.

魏霸延平元年仕為光祿大夫，妻死，長兄更為娶妻。妻至官舍，霸笑曰：「年老，兒子備具，何用空養他家老嫗為？」即自入拜其妻，手奉案前跪。霸曰：「夫人視老夫復何中空，而遠失計義，不敢相屈。」即拜而出。妻慚求去，遂送還之。 |
| | In the first year of the Yanping era, Wei Ba began his official career as Guanglu 大夫 (Guanglu Daifu). After his wife died, his eldest brother arranged for him to remarry. When the new wife arrived at the official residence, Wei Ba smiled and said, "I am old now, and my sons are all grown up. Why should I keep an elderly woman from another family for no purpose?" He immediately went in to pay respects to his wife himself, kneeling before the table and personally presenting offerings. Wei Ba said, "Madam, do you see your old husband as empty-handed? Why have you gone so far against reason and righteousness? I dare not trouble you." He then bowed and left. The wife was ashamed and requested to leave, so he sent her back.
