Xin summoned the prisoner to the hall and said, "I want to personally hear his confession." He immediately entered the hall, removed the prisoner's restraints and provided him with food and drink, then quickly released and sent him away. As a result, he abandoned his official post and fled to avoid punishment. When amnesty was later declared, he emerged from hiding; thus, the people of his hometown admired his noble sense of justice.
