縡先事陈主于东宫，负才使气，人多怨之。及是，施文庆、沈客卿共譛縡受髙丽使金，陈主收縡下狱，縡于狱中上书，畧曰：夫君人者，恭事上帝，子爱下民，省嗜欲，逺謟侫，未明求衣，日旰忘食，是以泽被区宇，庆流子孙。陛下顷来酒色过度，不䖍郊庙，小人在侧，宦竖㺯权，悪忠直如仇讐，视生民如草芥，后宫曵绮绣廐，马馀菽粟，百姓流离，僵尸蔽野，货贿公行，帑蔵损耗，神怒民怨，衆叛亲离，臣恐东南王气自斯而尽矣！陈主每当郊祀，常称疾不行，故縡言及之。书奏，陈主大怒，顷之，意稍解，遣使谓曰：「我欲赦卿，卿能改过否？对曰：「臣心如面面可改，则心可改矣。陈主益怒，遂赐死。呉兴章华好学能文，以无阀閲除大市令，郁郁不得志，上书极諌，畧曰：「陛下即三位于今五年，溺于嬖宠，惑于酒色，祠七庙而不出，拜妃而临轩，老臣宿将，弃之草莽，謟佞䜛邪，升之庙廷。今疆场日戏隋军压境，陛下如不改弦易张，臣见麋鹿复游于姑蘓矣！」陈主大怒，斩之 章华，字仲宗。
