3  | 吴可读，字柳堂，甘肃皋兰人。初以举人官伏羌训导。道光三十年，成进士，授刑部主事。晋员外郎，遭忧去，主讲兰山书院。会撒拉番蠢动，被命佐团练。服阕，起故官。迁吏部郎中，转御史。各国使臣请觐，议礼久未决，可读请免拜跪，时论韪之。乌鲁木齐提督成禄诬民为逆，击杀多人，虚饰胜状，为左宗棠所劾。可读继陈其罪有可斩者十，不可缓者五，寻逮问，谳上论斩，廷臣请改监候。可读愤甚，复疏争：「请斩成禄以谢甘民，再斩臣以谢成禄。」语过戆直，被诃责，镌三级。归，复掌教兰山。逾年，穆宗崩，德宗缵业，起吏部主事。 |
