13  | 太宗深惜民力，擢樊知古为谏议、河北东西都转运使，自樊始也。奏请修河北诸城，计木五百万条，畚嬍簿咂甙偻蚴隆Ｉ显唬骸按蠛幽颂焐杈耷担以限夷夏。匈奴岂有违天限之势乎？万里长城，金汤之固，又奚为哉？重困吾民，损和伤事，所陈过当，宜罢之。」诏有司量给材用修整。知古，江南人，无乡里之爱，举于乡，不获第，因谋北归，献计于朝。以钓竿渔于采石江凡数年，横长絙量江水之广深，絙或中沉，阴有物波低助起，心知其国之亡，遂仗策谒太祖，奏曰：「可造舟为梁，以济王师，如履坦途。」送学士院，本科及第，遣湖南督匠造黄黑龙船于荆南，破竹为索，数千舰由荆南而下。舟既集，就采石矶试焉，密若胼胁，不差尺寸。知古旧名若冰，太祖以其声近「弱兵」之厌，故改之。江南平，为侍御史，邦人怨之，累世丘木悉斩焉。 |
