汝宁维山之北有山曰大乘浮屠师北山梓公之旧居也师产庐陵长学佛衡山之福岩寺北渡长淮爱兹山而筑室焉群峰环合万木阴翳水流竹间𭳳𭳳有声炎歊之月阴寒薄人因名庵曰氷雪志其境之幽闲且自表其清苦云既避地来京师仍旧号以扁所寓承旨晋张公监承抚黄公皆为记其命名之旨备矣而复请言于予予惟师之名庵其有氷雪乎尔盖寓言也其无氷雪乎尔则亦恶乎无之世之语道自其无形者目为虚繇其有理者指为实恶知夫天地之间何莫而非虚何莫而非实也尝观于物矣陨霜能杀物也而雪不能以杀物饮水能病人也而氷不能以病人之二物者至阴之中至阳存焉阴阳固一理也舒而为生惨而为杀静而为无动而为有虚无虚也实无实也儒者穷是理也佛氏谓理为障而岂外乎是理哉寂而常感阴亟阳也感而常寂阳亟阴也虽不外乎阴阳而不囿乎阴阳也无生也而未始无生也寂灭也而未始寂灭也而世多以槁木死灰目之亦岂深知彼者哉溢乎两间无一物而无阳无一息而无生也木之槁灰之死则生之理息灭始无阳而无阴耳氷也雪也至阳之所存生理之所存也岂槁木死灰之伦哉师名是庵之旨其果出于此乎如果出于此也夫岂胶于境癖于清苦者乎予观师邃于禅为诗甚清称其庵名且乐与儒者游于予尤稔故为之极言穷理之妙以翼之
